# Senegal

**Things to look out for in Senegal**

* **Hierarchy of Documents**:
* Livre (Book), Titre (Title), Chapitre (Chapter), Section, Article
*
* Livre mark up as `BOOK`
* Chapitre mark up as `CHAP`
* Article mark up as `ART`
*
* French words for BOOK (Livre), CHAPTER (Chapitre), TITLE (Titre) and PART (Partie) will automatically appear translated on the view screen when you mark them up in the usual way eg. Chapter will automatically come up as Chapitre when you mark it up using CHAP

**Convert headings in capital letters to sentence case,** run headings through this programme to make sure French accents are put on to the lower case letters: <https://www.reverso.net/spell-checker/french-spelling-grammar/>

**EXPOSE DES MOTIFS** \
Leave this in, it is an explanatory statement\

Mark up in PREFACE and leave heading in capital letters\
\
Take out material which is already duplicated and is visible in the table of contents eg. \

**Applying Amendments**

When an article is amended or substituted, use the words **modifié par**

Where an article is repealed, use the words **abrogé par**

When an article is added use the words **ajouté par**

When an article is inserted use the words **inséré par**

When an article is deleted use the words **supprimée par**

**Constructing the annotation**

In French language, use of **du**, **de la** and **de l'** depends on what the amending work is. This is a sample of which to of these to use:

**Where an article is amended, or substituted several times**, create a consolidated annotation.&#x20;
